I didn't realize the original title for the film was Nico. What made them decide to change the title to Above the Law? What a great film, , thank you for posting this. It has been very educational. I just visited her grave in Berlin and met her briefly in Manchester .. She is a unique person very interesting looking almost kind of androgynous in a way !? I kind of like her style haunting her voice her song writing and intelligent cool woman ! She has Interesting features very sad and unhappy looking soul ! Poor woman ... Also ich finde Sie (Nico) nun alles andere als schön. Sie sieht in jungen Jahren irgendwie aus wie eine Transe und im Alter ist Sie nur noch ein Wrack namens Heroin! I saw her perform in her later years. She reputedly coerced the nightclub's owner to help her score smack, I suppose, or else no performance. It was a sprawling, rambling darker room in the back upstairs club of a downtown space, kind of like a rec room in the sky. She had this strange little keyboard instrument that seemed to belong to some demented child. She had dark dyed hair and kind of wild kohl-lined eyes and because we could get very close to the performing floor, I mean, right there it was, she was, bad seeming teeth, but this imposing demeanor and really unique presence, and of course the voice. She was possibly the saddest person I've ever seen perform, but I'm sure that was a big part of what made her so sensitive and compelling. I can almost invoke tears remembering her, and that says something, if you knew me. The performance was short, probably less than half an hour, but perfect for what it was, indelible and ghostly, both..

Even at 47, the age she was when this interview took place, she had a lovely vulnerability about her and a charming shyness. I interpreted her comment about not wanting fans like the kind Neil Diamond had as her way of saying that she could never be an arena performer, like he was at the time, or play Vegas. I think she was stating that she wasn't an entertainer but a poetress who's aim it was to connect with her audience intimately and as individuals. Such a shame she died so young (I'm 47 also)..

I would love to see all of you kids when you're pushing sixty. and let's not forget escaping Nazis. she lost her dad with a Nazi bullet in the back while saving Jews from the un holy slaughter. what if you survived that. then you can talk-you kids. i never thought she was that beautiful I thought she only looked good at certain angles she had such manly features. Her voice is so deep....idk...i didn't like her voice either but this is interesting because so little is noted with nico. I've seen so many warhol documentaries she portrayed herself as this quiet display that spoke a word at a time. She literally came out of nowhere but this is interesting..
